This is a classic banjo style lick.  I use a pick held traditionally and my middle and ring finger. Some players like a thumb pick but I prefer a regular. I also use the meat of my fingers to pluck the strings. Some use their finger nails and others finger picks. What ever feels right go with it. Use your pick to play the 4th string, middle 3rd string, ring 2nd string. If you use a thumb pick use your thumb, index & middle fingers.You hear this role in a lot of country songs new & old! It's in the key of G.
